New Countdown: January 2021!

24kGoldn and Iann Diorr

It's taken a little big to get this one out, but it's finally done. I think that this experiment with the Hot Rock  & Alternative Songs chart has been a success and I am planning on continuing it into 2022. Now. Let's see how many 2021 countdowns I can get out before then!

New Countdown!: July 2019

KennyHoopla

Alright. Here we are, back in the saddle. One of the best things about switching to monthly posts is that I can get fairly behind but I'm still not all that behind, if you take my meaning. So here is the countdown for the month of July. I've been working very hard to get caught up on all my editing and I think I'm going to hopefully be able to finish the year with a sigh of relief from a job well done! This is a good countdown and it contains the debut of a song that you're going to want to pay attention to now, so that you can remember where you were when we're still talking about it months and months and months later!

This episode also has a special announcement that not even I was aware was going to happen until the last intro of the episode. So look forward to that! And enjoy!

Hey everyone! Well we made it through another month (basically) and so there's another batch of songs from Alternative Radio to listen to! We'll be back next month. Stay safe and healthy. And also, I hope it's very clear that at Appetite For Distraction, we firmly support Black Lives Matter and want swift justice for George Floyd and every other Black human being that has been murdered by police officers. The system is broken and we need to fix it.

New Countdown!: April 2020! (with special guest Lila!)

Billie Eilish

Hey! So, this is what monthly countdowns looks like! We are back with all of the songs that charted in April. And my daughter is here to weigh in on what she thinks of the songs from this month. We had such a fun time recording that this might become an occasional feature. I hope you have as much fun. The "cover art" for this episode is not random as it normally is, but was purposefully selected after Lila correctly pointed out that there's only one female voice in this whole countdown. (Diet Cig has an album you could go preorder, if you were interested....)

New Countdown (October 2018): Eyes on the Prize

twentyonepilots. I just realized how appropriate this is for October

Hey. So the last time you heard me on this show, I was talking about switching up the format a little bit to catch up. Well this is the first episode of that and I think it went fairly well. I'm hoping to get these out with a fair amount of regularity, then get back to doing week-by-week. But holding this format in my back pocket if I might need it. Enjoy!

New Countdown: Two Different Armstrongs!

Imagine Dragons

And so we reach the end of September 2018. But fear not, we're going to be switching things up for the next couple of episodes and I'm very excited about it. Here's a fun thing, I didn't come up with this new plan until a couple of days before I recorded the intro for lovelytheband, so when you listen to me before that on the show, you know something that I don't. And then stay tuned to the last intro to hear what the plan actually is.

New Countdown: VERY Loose Definition of the Word "Blues"

twenty one pilots

We're back with another countdown and this time we have a plan. It's a plan that lets us off the hook a little bit but which also relieves a lot of stress that we were feeling about the prospect of catching up. Stress that apparently makes us speak in the plural 3rd person. How fun! Enjoy the episode. It goes places!
