Mountain Goats ca 2005

Well here it finally is! The Artists of the Year Countdown for 2020! It's a very good one and I love making these things, it's just that I found myself doing a lot of podcasting with other people this year and kept putting the recording of this show off. You understand. But here it is! I hope you enjoy it!

New Countdown!: July 2019

KennyHoopla "the world is flat and this is the edge" Single | HYPEBEAST
KennyHoopla

Alright. Here we are, back in the saddle. One of the best things about switching to monthly posts is that I can get fairly behind but I'm still not all that behind, if you take my meaning. So here is the countdown for the month of July. I've been working very hard to get caught up on all my editing and I think I'm going to hopefully be able to finish the year with a sigh of relief from a job well done! This is a good countdown and it contains the debut of a song that you're going to want to pay attention to now, so that you can remember where you were when we're still talking about it months and months and months later!

Throwback Thursday: 1997 (14 Weeks at #1)

Well I scheduled this to go up almost 5 months ago, but here it is! We're getting near the end of this journey through the 90's and I have recently figured out what's next for Throwback Thursday. It's going to be good. Enjoy!

Ok, whoa. I totally didn't realize that TODAY is the 20th anniversary of Diana's death. That is so weird. I just had this feeling like "I think I'll post that Throwback Thursday video that I've been sitting on". Life is strange.

Throwback Thursday: 1992 (1 Week at #1)

Madonna - This Used to Be My Playground (8/8)

The video isn't available with the audio attached. And the audio isn't available with the video attached. But this song was on the A League of Their Own soundtrack and I love that movie and so I love this song a whole lot. Just close your eyes and picture the movie. If you haven't seen the movie, stop reading this blog and go see it! And then come back, changed. :)

George Michael and Elton John - Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me (2/1)

What feels like it would be kind of an odd pairing today (or maybe not?) was apparently huge 24 years ago :)

Color Me Badd - All 4 Love (1/25)

Gotta admit that my prejudices and biases did not have this as a band of mostly white guys. But I guess that's on me and my lack of awareness of early 90's heartthrob/chest hair idols.

Throwback Thursday: 1975

1. Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
2. Tower of Babel
3. Bitter Fingers
4. Tell Me When the Whistle Blows
5. Someone Saved My Life Tonight

6. (Gotta Get a) Meal Ticket
7. Better Off Dead
8. Writing
9. We All Fall in Love Sometimes
10. Curtains

So I love Elton John's singles, but the only album I'd ever attempted to listen to was Goodbye Yellow Brick Road which has some great singles but is absolutely a slog to get through to the end. This album, on the other hand, feels tight and driven. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am excited to listen to it again. The song selection was easy. There was only one single.

Off The Charts #4: Birthday 2011

So, it's super sad that I have to put 2011 on the title of the episode because I was ready for putting this up in like August. That would have been a very good time to do it, huh? But I didn't.

So, anyways. This is a podcast featuring a song from each blog that I followed on my birthday last year that POSTED on my birthday last year. I'm planning on doing it again this year, so if you're wanting to plan a special "James's Birthday post" then you might want to start planning now!

I was going to wait until the 16th or something so that it could at least be on the day of my birthday if not the month, but I figure I've waited long enough....DAMMIT and yesterday was the 16th. I didn't realize that until just now. Well, I'm certainly not waiting for April 16th. So, enjoy!
