Top Ten Tuesday: Ariana Grande "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored"

I'm going to do two separate posts because this should have gone up last week during a monumental week for the Hot 100. For the first time since 1964, the top 3 songs were all by one performer: Ariana Grande. I've featured the two other songs (7 Rings and Thank U Next) before, so here's the third

This song is pretty good. I'd put it behind thank u next but ahead of 7 rings.

Top Ten Twosday: Ariana Grande "7 Rings"and J. Cole "Middle Child"

So it looks like I haven't posted on here in almost a month which is wild, but don't worry. There are posts coming. Oh you better believe it. Keep watching this space. I missed TTT last week, so here's a twofer.

First, the Ariana Grande song that debuted at #1 last week. It's good. It feels a little like a sketch more than a complete song, but I only listened to it once, so I'm happy to be proven wrong on that take.

And then a J. Cole song that moves up 22 positions this week. No music video yet, but it's a pretty good song!

Top Ten Tuesday - Ariana Grande "thank u, next"

This is the current #1 song in the country and at first I was like "eh, seems sort of topical and it's fine but like is this really worth the hype?" and then i listened to a version WITH the "fuckin'" in it and it really makes the whole song. Like, i'm not usually one to prefer a song with curse words, but this one is REALLY helped by it!

I am writing this part before I listen to the song/watch the video, but I want it on record that I am already really stoked to listen to this song!

Ok, this was pretty good. Not the best thing I've ever seen, but it was pretty good!

This song debuted at #3 this week. The song and the video both kept subverting my expectations which was kind of delightful. I like the song. It's catchy! And I like that people are still making music videos that are very engaging to watch

A cool video and a pretty good song. Weird Guess brand plugging, though.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ariana Grande "Dangerous Woman"

Billboard gets its charts out on Wednesdays after a Monday holiday, but I think we can all pretend it's only Tuesday, right guys? ....Guys?

Here's the title track from Ariana Grande's third album. I remember when she got her first Top Ten song. I was like "Oh she's cute!" and now here she is, this powerhouse! Enjoy!

Top Ten Tuesday: Ariana Grande "Dangerous Woman"

So this song doesn't have a video yet, but it's premiering on the chart at #10, so I wanted to post about it. So, here's Ariara..... from SNL (you'll get it if you watch the SNL video) and then I'll post the official audio.

Top Ten Tuesday (Wednesday Edition): Ariana Grande "Focus"

This song debuted at #7 on the chart this week. It's another Ariana Grande video that is walking this weird line between trying to be sexy and trying to be silly. It's a very catchy song.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ariana Grande & The Weeknd "Love Me Harder"

This song is very very catchy. It's one of those "wait, what did she just sing" songs where the lyrics sound sweet until you listen to them closely and realize that the content is QUITE racy.

Of course, this song is fairly run-of-the-mill for The Weeknd, if perhaps a little toned down. Man, I need to listen to those Weeknd EPs.

So, accompanying this song is a suitably subtle video. It's pretty dense with symbolism and I hope you can pick up the meaning behind it all!

Fun Trivia Fact: Ariana Grande has posted the second highest number of songs since Top Ten Tuesday started early last year, second only to Justin Timberlake. And if you don't count features, she takes the prize.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ariana Grande featuring Zedd "Break Free"

What an odd video. It's trying to be tongue-in-cheek and silly while also trying to be genuinely sexy. I think it has mixed results. The song's pretty good and the video is pretty good, as well. Just weird.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ariana Grande, Jessie J, and Nicki Minaj "Bang Bang"

This one is interesting because I think I liked the song more before I saw the video. That doesn't often happen. I know that I'll probably go back to liking it as much as I did before, but this video seems a lot like just an ad for Beats Audio stuff. I mean...I guess it's fine, but I was hoping for a little more I think.

Weird. I don't often say things on here that aren't positive. I don't think this was a negative review necessarily. Just sort of an "oh."

Top Ten Tuesday: Ariana Grande featuring Iggy Azalea "Problem"

This song is alright. I'm still sort of figuring out what I think of Iggy Azalea. But I think Ariana Grande is pretty great. I could have sworn that I had featured her song "The Way" on Top Ten Tuesday before, but I can't find it. She reminds me of early Mariah Carey, which I'm sure is the goal.

Lyric videos are weird.
