MP3's
Ok, MP3's on this blog (designated by the links that seem like maybe they're songs) are for sampling purposes. So, if you like something you find on this site go buy some stuff by that artist. Go see a show.
If you're not happy that I put an MP3 up on this blog, just email me to take it down and it'll be down.
All MP3's are up for 10 days. Or when I remember to get take them down.
If you want to email me to say hi, ask me to take something down, ask me to put something up (i.e. bands wanting me to check out their music), or anything else, email me at aodblog@gmail.com. You can remember it because it's the Appetite FOr Distraction blog!"But James, you say, why isn't it afdblog?" The answer is, of course, I didn't pay attention to the letters in the initials of my blog. Le sigh.
Well this will certainly be a change from The White Stripes. I'm excited to really immerse myself in some of their latter-day albums. And they have a 3 song EP (or something) up on Spotify that came out on July 1 that I'm kicking things off with! It's quite enjoyable.
Of COURSE, the song that I picked for the UK Edition last week makes the Top Ten in America this week. Of COURSE it does. So this week, I'm going to try an artist that I haven't seen on this side of the pond.
This is an episode I did mostly in one sitting, which is something I haven't done since the night of the 2015 Grammy Awards. Sometimes the spirit really moves me and today is one of those times! Which is awesome!
So, enjoy! There are some GREAT tunes to listen to.

It's time for another episode of Alternative hits! I was thinking that so few of these songs are what would typically be thought of as "Alternative" in the 90's definition. And I think that's a very good thing.

I feel like I should not start near the top of the UK charts, because the likelihood that I'm going to pick a song that will eventually hit the Top Ten in the US is so much higher when I start from the top. So you know what? It was going to be DJ Snake featuring Justin Bieber this week (#2), but instead it's....this Drake song (#10) (the ellipses were me looking it up).
...nope. It's this Shawn Mendes song because there's no video for that Drake song. This song is at #9 on the UK Charts. It's at #12 on the US Charts. LOL and the original song I was going to do falls 12-19 this week, so maybe that would have been better. Oh well. :)
And we're into August now! The big reveal of the first Artist of the Month happens in this episode (for those of you who don't regularly read the blog...)!!!
It's a good one and it has new Dessa in it. So I mean, what are you waiting for? Me to stop writing things? Oh, ok.
