So I got this CD a bit before it came out because my friend Danielle was a big Incubus fan and knew somebody that knew somebody or something. She gave me a copy in the first weeks of our first semester of college. Anyway. At first, I was disappointed that this album wasn't more like the previous album Make Yourself, but now I think it might be way way way better. I think that I might prefer chill Incubus. And if you can give me chill Incubus and still have the DJ scratching, I'm totally in. Hence the above video.

In looking for videos for this album, I also found the complete Morning View Sessions concert which came out the following spring. I've embedded it below.

One Year, 100 Albums: #88 Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E.

I know. I was surprised too. It really seems to me that Make Yourself or Morning View are the more likely candidates to make the Incubus spot on this list. They're certainly more mature efforts.

But then I re-listened to this album yesterday. And it is just FANTASTIC.

A lot of the things I've read about this album talk about the blending of rap and rock and I suppose that's true, but more than that, I'd point out just how FUNKY it is. The bass parts on this are so fun. Probably the most enjoyable that I can think of right now.

The music is dynamic and energetic and funny!

So basically, funny and funky. More the latter than the former.

I bought this album on my first day visiting family in Colorado during the summer of 2001, having heard it, I suppose, from some friend or another in my senior year. Maybe I borrowed it from my friend Amber? That seems entirely possible.

Everybody's Working For the Weekend

So, at work, I'm basically scrambling to get the mountainous pile of stuff to do done before the end of Thursday, as I will be leaving for Florida with my wife and daughter and won't be returning to work until the following Monday.

In a similar situation, I have been stressing (well, not stressing, per se, but concerned) about getting the podcasts from last week and this week recorded and posted. Well, hang the banner because it's MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!

THIS, my friends. This is how I always want the podcast to go. It's Monday night. The baby is sleeping. I knocked out the podcast and had fun doing it. It's a pretty exciting little episode. Only three songs stay in the position they were in last week! I hope that I can continue to stay on top of this podcast. I enjoy it even more when it's punctual! Plus there's the factor of the unknown. Recently, I've been a week behind, so I was doing intros knowing full well what the song did the following week. And I haven't had that recently!
