Top Ten Tuesday: Lil Wayne featuring Kendrick Lamar "Mona Lisa"

4 songs from Lil Wayne's new album debut in the Top 10 this week. I picked the one that features Kendrick :)

At first this song didn't grab me, but then I was hooked. It's very good and they both perform their verses very impressively!

Top Ten Tuesday: Kendrick Lamar and SZA "All the Stars"

This is another song from the Black Panther soundtrack to find its way into the Top Ten. This soundtrack is so exciting to me :)

Top Ten Tuesday: The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar "Pray For Me"

Debuting at #7 is this song from the Black Panther soundtrack that basically amounts to a new Kendrick Lamar album. Or, like at least a mixtape. I'm very excited about it. It came out on Friday, but I haven't listened to anything but this and the other single from it. This song is so great.

Top Ten Tuesday: Kendrick Lamar "Humble"

Always excited for new Kendrick and this one is great. It debuts on the chart at #2 behind the dominant Ed Sheeran "Shape of You" monolith. Maybe next week, he'll take the top spot. Here's hoping :)

Top Ten Tuesday: Maroon 5 featuring Kendrick Lamar "Don't Wanna Know"

This is an amazing video. I love so much about it. I was sad that they cut the Kendrick part, but I imagine they pitched the concept to him and he was like, "Um....I'll pass." :)

This song jumps from #56 to #9 this week which is quite an impressive leap!

Enjoy!

New Countdown: Bicenquinquagenary As Hell.

Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats

This is the 275th regularly scheduled countdown I've put together. That is kind of staggering, isn't it? Thanks for sticking with me :) If this is your 1st episode or your 275th that you've "tuned in" for, I want to thank you so much for taking the time!

Oh, and Merry Christmas! Hope that, if you're celebrating, you're having a lovely time with family, friends, and people who are somewhere in between.

Top Ten Tuesday: Taylor Swift featuring Kendrick Lamar "Bad Blood"

Well, as expected, this song takes over the #1 position on the Hot 100. It's not surprising, since it spent all week breaking Vevo records and being a super intense, fun, cameofest.

I am very pleased with what Kendrick adds to this, as well. Overall, a very well executed project!

See how many people you can recognize!

New Countdown: Late Night Inspiration

Kendrick Lamar
For having started as late as I did, this one came together quite quickly and quite easily. That said, this late late night nonsense has got to stop! Buuuut it probably won't.

Happy Sunday, everyone! Don't forget to vote on the Festive Fifty if you haven't already!

Top Ten Tuesday: Bobby Shmurda "Hot Boy"

Well, this is a song that's in the Top Ten this week. It's not technically actually called "Hot Boy."

And here's the song at #54 this week. It's much much less popular than the song above. So, I mean, think on that for a while.

Throwback Thursday: 2013

Well it's time to recolorize your televisions. We're flying all the way back to 2013 to start going through the Billboard 200 in the same way we did the Hot 100. It's going to be slightly different due to Billboard's mysteriously missing archive data for album charts starting in 1983. But don't fret! It's Wikipedia to the rescue! Wikipedia has the Number One album for each week all the way back to sometime in the 40's so we'll always have something to throwback to, I just won't always be picking what it is. Ready? Ok. Here we goooooo

10. Florida Georgia Line - Here's to the Good Times
9. Tye Tribbett - Greater Than
8. Five Finger Death Punch - The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell: Volume 1
7. Imagine Dragons - Night Visions
6. Teen Beach Movie Soundtrack
5. Asking Alexandria - From Death to Destiny
4. Jay Z - Magna Carta...Holy Grail
3. Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines

1. Blurred Lines (featuring T.I. and Pharrell)
2. Take It Easy On Me
3. Ooo La La
4. Ain't No Hat 4 That [this is quite possibly my favorite song title of all time. other fun fact about this song: Big Daddy Alan Thicke got a cowriter credit]
5. Get In My Way
6. Give It 2 U (featuring Kendrick Lamar) [the original version had a verse from 2 Chainz, but it got leaked and became "the remix" and Kendrick recorded a verse for the "non-remix". The video you'll see below has both verses]
7. Feel Good
8. Go Stupid 4 U
9. 4 The Rest of My Life
10. Top of the World
11. The Good Life

So probably everyone has heard the title track and can admit that, despite the controversial content (is it degrading to women? empowering to women?), is quite a catchy song. But I liked the third single better and have featured it in a video below. It peaked at #25 which is a crime even if you're only paying attention to the part where he talks about how she fell from heaven and then the music stops and he say "Angel." It's SO cheesy that I love it.

2. NOW 47
1. The Civil Wars - The Civil Wars
