Throwback Thursday: 1999 (5 Weeks at #1)

Three classic late-90s songs from three Latinx performers (I'm not sure if Christina Aguilera identifies as Latina, but her father is from Ecuador, so I think it maybe counts, right?). I love it. All three of these, if they come on 90s on 9, I will leave on. Yes, even Livin' La Vida Loca.

Fun Fact: I once wrote a play about pirates in about 1999 called "Livin' La Vida Pirate"

Enjoy!

Christina Aguilera - Genie in a Bottle (7/31-8/28)

Jennifer Lopez - If You Had My Love (6/12-7/10)

Ricky Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca (5/8-6/5)

Well, this is certainly an interesting week in an interesting time, isn't it? Two Millennium references, Britney, Christina, and Backstreet Boys all in the Top Ten, plus Santana's HUGE Supernatural album. There were a lot of great options for me to choose from, and maybe you're saying, "Yeah, and you somehow screwed it up. Also, why TWO songs??" Well, these songs take me back to the era (that choreography! seriously.), plus I think they're really enjoyable pop songs. So there :) Consider yourself thrown back.

Also, I had COMPLETELY forgotten about Christina's involvement in Mulan (She sang the song "Reflection" which is also included on this, her debut!). What an important movie that was! (Seriously. I love that movie.)

9. Will Smith - Willennium
8. Santana - Supernatural
7. Nas - Nastradamus
6. Britney Spears - ...Baby One More Time
5. Korn - Issues
4. Backstreet Boys - Millennium

Top Ten Tuesday: A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera "Say Something"

The least of 4 evils ("Evils" is pretty harsh here. None of these songs/artists are "evil" or even "bad") finds us looking at another "...featuring Christina Aguilera" song (ok, so technically, this is an "...& Christina Aguilera" song, but you understand what I mean). From what I gather, she heard this song as part of her responsibilities on The Voice and asked to collaborate. If you watch the video, you begin to see that she basically just took the other guy's harmony part. I kept watching him expecting him to come in with a verse, but he did not. Not a bad song, though. Cool video, too.

All Time Hot 100 (Part 4)

We're almost halfway through the All Time Hot 100, which Billboard has been releasing every day. I basically just go to the Main Site and that day's list is on the side-scrolly, featured articles thing right there.

Top Ten Tuesday: Pitbull ft. Christina Aguilera "Feel This Moment"

Well, this song is better than I thought it was, but that's not really saying a whole lot.
I think the most fun thing to do when watching this one is to note how many times CA messes with her hair. (SPOILER: It's a lot.)

And now, completely unrelatedly, here's this:
